Using oil is a cost-effective and healthy alternative to many moisturizers on the market today. But many people steer clear of this because it can make your face look oily, especially if you’re like me and have oily skin already. The good news is, that there is an easy solution to get all the benefits from your oil without the appearance of excessive oil.

Oils for Your Face

So many different kinds of oils will benefit the skin on your face. Here is a list of the ones I recommend.

  1. Coconut Oil
  2. Olive Oil
  3. Sunflower Oil
  4. Almond Oil
  5. Jojoba Oil
  6. Vitamin E Oil
  7. Grapeseed Oil
  8. Rose Hip Oil

You can use these oils alone or add some essential oils for added benefits.

Essential Oils for Face

With so many essential oils and the varying skin types we all have, it can seem overwhelming when trying to come up with the perfect combo for your skin. So, where do you start?

For Dry & Sensitive Skin:

  1. Lavender
  2. Chamomile
  3. Sandalwood

For Oily Skin

  1. Clary Sage (this is what I use)
  2. Rosemary
  3. Frankincense
  4. Geranium
  5. Neroli

For Acne-Prone Skin

  1. Lemon
  2. Lemongrass
  3. Cinnamon
  4. Tea Tree

Mixing Oils

If you’re going to use essential oils, you need to mix them. Otherwise, you can develop allergic reactions like rashes. The general rule of thumb prescribed by Ayurveda is to take one drop of essential oil per 20 drops of the main oil.

Applying the Oil

After washing your face, apply a small amount of oil to your face. A few drops should be plenty. When we get the oily appearance on our skin, it is because the oil (or lotion) is resting on the top layer of the skin rather than getting deep down to the 7th layer.

To avoid this, you need to get the oil to the 7th layer, so it is completely absorbed, and each layer gets the nutrients and benefits from the application. Do this easily by massaging the oil into your skin. You can use your fingertips or a roller. However, if you use your fingertips, be mindful of the undereye area because it is more delicate than the other skin.

Massage the oil for 15 minutes to get it to the deepest layer. If you’re in a hurry, you can shorten it to 5, but this won’t have the full oil-free lasting effect you want. When you’re done, you’ll be able to feel a difference deep in your skin, and your face will be glowing.

Finally

Just because you use oil on your face doesn’t mean you have to look oily; the solution is a simple fix that will benefit your overall skin health. Applying and massaging a mixture of oil and essential oils will have your face glowing healthily every day.

I have superdry skin, and it’s really temperamental, and I feel like oils are the best thing for my face.
