If you want something done, go all-in on it. And if you can’t find yourself putting in all your effort on it, then there has to be a reason.

I watched an episode of Suits last night when I noticed some things that really stood out to me. The character Donna mentioned something about them saying they’ll give the company everything they had and then getting distracted on other matters. They had to face the truth of the issue. They didn’t go all in. And honestly, neither did I.

Going All In.

The truth is I was scared. I wasn’t scared to fail; honestly, that has been something I have grown accustomed to. In fact, quite the opposite. I was afraid to get out of that pattern of not being good enough and unwilling to do everything it took. After all, if I half-assed it and didn’t get the desired results, I would be okay because I knew I didn’t put my heart in soul into the project.

Now, I wonder why I ever let so much precious energy go to waste, but I know failure and little to no effort were my comfort zone. I had no issue giving up a project or putting something on hold because the things I did daily all became monotonous to me. They became stressful, and I felt like I wasn’t doing the tasks for the joy of doing them, just pressuring myself to do them.

So, let me just say now if I don’t post every week, it isn’t because I quit. Still, honestly, sometimes I need to retreat from all the stresses in my life and just take time to myself, which is entirely natural. This brings me to the second lesson I learned from watching Suits.

They Celebrated Everything.

All the characters would work very hard on their projects and cases, and they celebrated when they were over. Whether they lost their case or won it, they were there for each other. They knew their relationships were more important than the case because the cases would come and go, but the family won’t.

Whether their celebrations looked like a drink, a toast, a nice meal, or mudding, they each had their preferred way to relax and blow off some steam. So, I won’t feel guilty anymore for having time to myself. And I won’t feel guilty for focusing on my books or my business when I want to and other things like planning my wedding when I want to.

We’re Only Human.

As much as I have fought that fact in this lifetime, we are human and can only do so much. Sometimes going all in means taking care of yourself and your projects as much as possible. Focusing on one thing has never been a strong suit for me, but I feel this is a turning point for how I act and hold myself accountable. I promise I will not become overwhelmed with my projects and will change things when I can.

But for now, my attention is being called here. Not my books, not my courses, not my healing. I am being called to share everything with you now and see how this unfolds. After all, everything has flown together perfectly thus far. I may as well trust where I am and where I am going.

“There is some kind of a sweet innocence in being human- in not having to be just happy or just sad- in the nature of being able to be both broken and whole, at the same time.”
