This being my first post as a coven leader I wanted to tell you a little bit about who I am and what kind of magick I practice. In this new age community you’ll find support from people just like you while we grow into the new age world we all envision together as a collective.
First things first, as you may already know, magick is natural. It is everywhere, it is you and it is me. Yesterday I got the message, “magick is wherever you are because you are magick.” I thought it was so beautiful I had to share it with someone.
A Touch of You Magick
When I first studied witches and diving in deep into the belief system around them, I read something that disturbed me. It said one must keep a Year and a Day before being considered a true witch. If you’re unfamiliar with what that is, it is a book.
It could be a spell book or a book of references but traditionally the witch in training would write down the lessons he/she has learned every day. Now, that being said, as a witch in training, someone needs to guide or teach them. I found a couple of witches in my area, I even asked one to train me, and in her own way, she did.
A Touch of Solitary Magick
I didn’t complete my year and a day until many years later because I was stuck trying to fit myself into a category. There are many kinds of witches. Kitchen witches are brilliant at making potions and things in the kitchen. Green witches typically have houses filled with plants and resonate deeply with the Earth. Then there are solo witches who do everything alone.
For the longest time, I felt like I was a solo witch, but without the proper trainer, I didn’t think I could consider myself to be a real witch. I have always been independent, but now that I have completed a lot of shadow work I understand this is not how I was meant to be. I’ve always grown up surrounded by people but have chosen to be alone.
While, in fact, I was never alone. You see, I have many spiritual gifts, one of which is mediumship. I can clearly see and hear spirits communicating with me from the other realms. I have always been guided by those who are not visible to others, yet I considered myself to be alone in the physical world.
Today I understand that this was never true. I was always surrounded by the energies of my ancestors. And although I always tried to figure out what “type” of witch I truly am, I now understand that the quest to fit myself in another man-made box is pointless.
A Touch of Zodiac Magick
Just last year I thought I was a Virgo, yet another man-made box I was trying to fit myself in. But I’m not. If you consider the 13th zodiac in western astrology, then I am a Leo. However, if you are basing my zodiac sign on the traditional name-based astrological symbols, I am a Gemini. Or if you have a Vedic astrologer read my chart, they’ll tell you I am an Aries.
So, I decided none of it matters how you define yourself. I am me. I wouldn’t want to be any other way. I am a woman standing in my power and I grow stronger every day because I understand my lessons deeper and deeper in every moment. For example, the woman who said she would take me on as her apprentice put my life through the epitome of hell for almost 10 years.
But she taught me how to really protect myself. Without her, I wouldn’t fully understand my power and I am grateful for every curse she put on me. Either way, all have been broken now. But let’s get back to introducing myself, no need to dally in the healed past.
A Touch of Fake Magick
I love plants, but I recently moved to India and I have no idea how to keep anything alive in this environment. Sadly I have let my tulsi go, and I fear my snake plant has seen better days. In the kitchen, I love to create things, recipes, and such, but I am still learning in there. However, this is where I excel…
Yesterday I saw ravens, many of them. I lost count. I saw them on TV, I saw a few on my terrace and a few more in a tree before I left my house. Not too far after arriving at my destination, I went to get a good view of the sky. To my surprise, there I see another raven but not alone. This raven was accompanied by a dove. I was perplexed for a moment because I have never seen the two of them together but then I smiled.
A Touch of Animal Magick
Many people view ravens as bad omens, but they are far from that. Ravens are mysterious creatures, just like a snake. They come as a guide to tell you that rebirth has come to you. Ravens are curious creatures, who tell us to embrace our mischievous sides. They are kind and loving creatures that form lifelong connections with others.
The dove is known to be a symbol of love, peace, and hope throughout the world. But that isn’t the only message she brings with her. Doves show up to those whose gentle, compassionate nature helps heal the world. She guides you when you are ready to release something that has been holding you back from your life.
This was indeed a good sign. But the symbols didn’t stop there. A few moments later I looked at the sky to see a huge white figure effortlessly pushing his way through the atmosphere as if there were no winds. The heron has been one of my longest friends in this world.
The heron is typically a solo creature. They remind us that we are staying our course. They tell us this path is for no one else to walk. This life is yours and yours alone. Ultimately, you must do what is best for you; you have to stay true to yourself even if it goes against another person’s vision for you.
They have their own life, and you’ve been given these ideas, creations, and dreams as a gift to put them into existence. It isn’t just a goal; this is your duty.
A Touch of Me Magick
Honestly, this is exactly why I am writing this now. I’ve always had a feeling I was going to help restore magick in the world, and whenever I ask what am supposed to be doing or to see my purpose, I always see myself writing. And I have been, just not in a public place.
I have written many books during my Year and a Day with many lessons on shadow work, growth, control, surrender, love, death, and so much more. One day all those lessons will be available to you, but for now, this is what I can offer. My words, my support, my love, and my lessons here on this site.
